PORTFOLIO AND PROJECTS

Art and Technology

Artificial Intelligence

I have been playing with GPT-3 based tools, both to help out with writing articles, but more interestingly perhaps is the poetry and prose.

Is it Art

I have had a creative pursuit of one form or another for most of my life. In childhood it was drawing. I added writing as a teenager and coding as a young adult. In my 30s I discovered photography. When I was approached on Instagram about a gallery show, it really got me thinking about whether the things I was doing would be considered art by anyone but me. I began to dive in to what things are considered art.

Photography

A timeless preservation of moments that started as a failure to take a decent product picture. After many years, countless photographs, a dozen cameras, and one tiny gallery show in the Netherlands I have a few thoughts on photography.

Rescue Dogs

After years without a pet, and an impasse on the acquisition of a dog at home, I began to volunteer to get my dog fix.
I took pictures: my rescue dog portfolio
One Tail at a Time, where I volunteered, is one of the most generous and wonderful organizations I have ever come across.

Still Life Photography

Tying my love of photography in to my growing interest in online fiction. The merger of analog and digital, not to mention a nice change of pace from candid photography of people in the streets. Coming soon.

Entrepreneurship

Two decades as a programmer, a passion for learning new things, and a phenomenal co-founder culminated in an attempt to build a substantial, beneficial business. Along the way I had 5 failed startups, went through Techstars Chicago (formerly Excelerate, read countless books, and learned about product, SEO and content marketing the hard way.

Mercaris

Bringing transparency to Organic and non-GMO agriculture markets. An eight year journey of self discovery named Mercaris.

Reading Recommendations

I’ve read a lot of great books, but these are the ones that I can’t stop thinking about, so I have started compiling lists. Perhaps my fiction recommendations can help find something you can't put down.
